2008.12.01 Trijekt Seminar

Trijekt Motormanagement Seminar at Seidl in Untergriesbach

On November 28th the FH-Frankfurt Racing Team, represented by Sebastian Bischoff and Alexander Blecher, traveled to Passau to participate in a two day seminar which dealed with the “Trijekt” Enginemanagementsystem, that is going to be used in the 2009 FSG.

The seminar contained the following themes:

  1. Therory,  Assembling and Installation
    • General informations about installing the system and the sensors
    • Pro’s and con’s of differnet rotation speed measurement systems
    • Pro’s and con’s of different airmass measurement systems
    • Wireing, tips and tricks for the installation and troubleshooting
  2. Basic Setup, getting started
    • Konfigurating Trijekt
    • Getting the engine started
    • Functioning check of all componends
  3. Tuning the Trijekt System
    • Ideal tuning of fuelratio and ignition timing
    • Tuning cold start and cold run

On the first day, the schedule was filled with the theoretical part. We were introduced to the circumstances for an ideal combustion and the influences of the different parameters such as fuelratio or ignition timing. The sensors and the technical details of the Trijekt system where explained to us very extensively. Since there where only six participants in the seminar, the small group had the tutors full attention and there was plenty of room for individual guidance.

On the second day, the theoretical part had to be applied to reallity. Our test object was an old VW Golf MK2 which had a turbocharged 2L 16V engine under its rusty hood. The participants where then - guided by Mr. Seidl - supposed to get the engine started and tune it on the dynamometer.

We’ve learned a lot about the Trijekt System on this seminar and we are anxious to apply what we’ve learned to our Formula Student project.

At this point we would like to thank Trijekt for the trust and the support for the 2009 FSG!
